OUR PROGRAM

What to expect in a typical session?

Each session will be one hour long. The children will be participating in lots of different reading-related activities.

We will be doing the following in class:

1. Classic book read-aloud:

We will read aloud a classic must-read book and get children involved in discussions about the characters, story and illustrations.

2. Enrichment activities:

After reading, to increase the kid's engagement with the book, we practice shared and choral reading, and art projects.

3. Phonics instruction:

In each class we will teach a formal phonics lesson that teaches phonemic awareness, letter recognition and letter-sound relationship.

4. Reading games:

Children play word games to reinforce phonemic awareness and letter recognition.
